~ snap-it....growing ~

There's always a lot of growing going on around here...good thing too when you're trying to make healthy kids.

We have a height chart on the door jamb in the office... all heights are officially recorded here once a year (it broke my heart just a little when we renovated and had to move the old one to here)...and it looks like that little man is going to catch his sisters waaay too soon.

I love going back to my mum's place and seeing all our marks on her height wall...such good memories.

Where do you record your children's heights?  Does your childhood chart still exist?

Playing along every week with snap-it at faith, hope and a whole lotta love

  1. Gee ... you're organised! We have a height chart on a cupboard architrave but never thought to put a measuring tape on there first! We just measure from the ground up each time ;-)

  2. Ha, this brings back memories. My Mum would have us measured once a year on New years Day against the door jam in their bedroom. She is only little at 5ft.2 but my Dad is 6ft.2, so mostly the 5 of us children took after him. I jealously guarded by record of growing 14 cm in one year (I backed that up with 8 cm the following year). Although my brothers ended up taller than my 6ft, (around 6ft4) they grew over a longer time period so didn't beat me. I remember being a bit sad when I realised I was no longer growing (I was finished by the time I was 12). I will have to check it out when I next visit my parents as they still live in the same house.

  3. Oh I remember our growth chart, I think I used to fudge the measurements a little. I remember standing on tippy toes or even rubbing mums mark out and making my own (taller) one. I've always been in the short side! I have one for the kids too but a hanging one so we can always take it with us!

  4. Love this. And such a beautiful photo. We move around too much. But I am thinking I might start doing this anyway!

  5. I used to love getting measured. Although it was much less fun once my younger brothers caught up to me!

  6. Hey Ally, the question you posed on my blog earlier today got me thinking and prompted me to compose a new blog post (http://blog.lushpupimages.com/first-image-words)around it. I referenced Everyday Miracles ... hope that's cool with you ... the people who visit are very nice!

  7. measuring is fun, and holds a lot of memories of my own growing. We measure my boys on the inside of their wardrobe doors.

  8. oh that looks great! we have the boring paper chart...but i remember as a kid going to my next door neighbours and the old lady would measure me behind the door of the kitchen and when i got married and had kids, she loved showing me the growth chart and what she remembered about me being little.....yes, fond memories a height charts creates!!!

  9. I do love looking back to see how much the girls have grown over a year and reminiscing. We have our heights marked in a door jam too in the kitchen and do it every birthday. My parents did exactly the same thing with my brother and I but sadly since they moved it was left behind, the memory is still there though. xx

  10. That made me smile Ally! One door jam in each house we moved into had some marks :) Shame we could not bring it with us :)
The girls have kept doing it here :) I am sure they will do it with their kids too :)

  11. Awesome idea for this prompt. Love a growth cart, ours is more sporadic and tape measure less but fun all the same. We even have some friends heights from over the years. And Nick..... well his hair was lipped to a number 2.
    See you next week

  12. You have totally just reminded me to do this Ally! Thank you ! I have been very slack at recording heights so far, but I'll change that now. Great photos! I still remember my Mum keeping my height measurement, on a wall in the kitchen, good memories xo

  14. What a wonderful way to chart their growth... and a fabulous photograph of it. I can't even reach the top of my 12 year olds head anymore without standing on a chair!

  15. so cool!! my girls have their height measured & documented in their cubby house. It's so good to keep documenting especially when I spend all day every day with Miss 4 & don't always notice her growth!!
